GUTTERS

GUTTERS

Rain gutters are an essential asset to your roof system because without them, damage can occur to a property, such as erosion, water damage, mold growth, and more.

  • Protects foundation of home

  • Helps limit water seepage

  • Diverts water from roof

  • Increases house value

DESCRIPTION

Roof gutters are a pivotal part of your building's structure and are responsible for effective water management. Gutters take rainwater away from the building to prevent it from causing damage.

Roof gutters are fixed along the edge of your roof and help to protect the roof, walls, windows, and foundations from excess moisture and potential water-related problems.

Gutters are typically installed at a slight downward slope to allow water to flow freely towards downspouts or drains - the downspout being the vertical pipe attached to the gutters.

The downspout then carries the water to the ground level or into an underground drainage system.

Regular maintenance is critical to ensuring a blockage-free and functioning gutter system.

Roof gutters are essential. Without them, damage can occur to a property, such as erosion, water damage, mold growth, and more.

A high-quality gutter system can help prevent costly repairs to the house and the gutter itself.

A low-quality house gutter could be just as ineffective as not having one at all. They can be susceptible to leaks and cracks, ultimately damaging the building and roof.

TYPES & STYLES

Styles of Gutters

The two most common gutter styles are

  1. K-style

  2. Half round gutters

    • Single reverse bead

    • Single traditional bead

    • Double traditional bead

  3. Box style

  4. Brown stone gutters

  5. Custom gutters

K-Style Gutters

K style gutters are by far and away the most popular and widely available of all of the gutter systems. Available in 5, 6, 7, and 8 sizes and in over 20 colors. K style gutters can be made from copper, bronze and white aluminum and are made with roll forming machines.

K style gutters are available as seamless (cut to size) or can come pre-cut in 10'-12' lengths.

For seamless gutters a gutter machine is required on site to run the gutters off as an exact measurements of the home for custom fit gutters.

Half-Round Gutters

Half round aluminum gutters are the preferred system for traditional and historic homes. The round shape is simple yet stylish and blends well with crown moldings, exposed rafter tails, and bead-board soffits.

The round shape forces the water to drain out faster and is more effective in washing debris through the system than that of a K style gutter system.

Half round gutters are available in 5, 6, 7 and 8 sizes and in over 20 pre-finished colors. They can be made from copper, bronze and white aluminum.

Half round gutters are also available as a seamless style gutter however the cost Is significantly higher than k-style gutters due to the machines higher cost.

Plain round and round corrugated downspouts are the profiles of choice when installing a half round gutter system.

Single Reverse Bead: Available in 5" & 6" gutter sizes, seamless style available, and can be formed using copper, bronze and white aluminum.

Single Traditonal Bead: Available in 5", 6", & custom gutter sizes, 10'-12' lengths available, and can be formed from any feasable gutter material.

Brown Stone Gutters

Brownstone gutters are custom fabricated to match a historic gutter profile used in the brownstone buildings in Boston. The profile comes in 2 sizes, 5" and 6" for radius gutters, but for straight sections, any size can be fabricated. Brown stone gutters can be crafted from any feasable gutter material in 10'-12' lengths.

Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters offer multiple advantages. The k style aluminum gutter is the easiest to install while having low upfront costs and low maintenance costs. Its a rust free, corrosion resistant product with polished appearance that is durable and will last for decades to come.

Custom-Made

Because every seamless gutter system is custom-made for each property, it’s guaranteed to be a perfect fit – every time. And when gutters fit well, they work well.

Little Maintenance

Seamless gutters have fewer joints, so they accumulate less debris than sectional gutters. They are also not so attractive to little critters. This means you will spend less time maintaining and cleaning your seamless gutter system.

Less Likely to Leak

Everywhere a gutter has a joint and two sections meet, there is the possibility of leakage. On the other hand, seamless gutters have fewer joints, which means less rust and leaks.

Fewer Clogs

Leaves, twigs, pine needles, and other debris can typically accumulate in the gutters and get lodged in the areas where joints connect. When this debris accumulates, the gutters become clogged, and water can’t flow. Seamless gutters contain very few joints, so they are safe against clogs.

Lasting Aesthetic Appeal

Many people find seamless gutters are more aesthetically appealing than sectional ones. Most seamless gutters can be painted to match the exterior. Many gutters can also have a baked-on enamel finish that can last for years and never needs painting.

Better Functionality

Seamless gutters tend to have joints only at the downspouts and at the roof’s corners, which helps to eliminate potential problems. Their design also makes it easier for water to flow and for the gutters to function properly.

More Available Options

When you choose seamless gutters, you have more options in colors and materials, which will help you pick what goes best with the look of your home

Easier to Install

One of the most difficult parts of installing new gutters is measuring, cutting, and fitting them together. However, seamless gutters are already made to fit the dimensions of your roof.

Overall Less Expensive

In the beginning, seamless gutters will cost you a bit more. However, when you realize how much you will save on repair and maintenance over the years, generally, you will be spending less money. Remember, the less you have to replace or repair parts of the gutter system, the less money you’ll spend.

Longevity

Most seamless gutters have a pretty good lifespan – anywhere from 15 to 30 years.

Bigger Return on Your Investment

Buying new gutters can be a significant investment, so some homeowners try to save money by choosing a cheaper sectional model. This is a mistake because you’ll see a return on your investment.

Seamless gutters will improve your home’s curb appeal. They are also more aesthetically pleasing, while not drawing attention away from your home’s beautiful architecture. If you ever decide to sell your house, these high-quality gutters will be a good selling point.

Fewer Chances of Corrosion

Seamless gutters are less likely to create rust spots, thanks to their higher efficiency. Seamless gutters that are made from galvanized steel typically come with factory coating. This makes them more durable. You can also go with corrosion-proof metals, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and copper.
